Terri Bakken

Having a voice that can sound like a teen, young adult or middle -aged person has been a blessing for recording purposes. Acting has given me the chance to do dialog roles on projects, and having my own home studio allows me the flexibility of recording at any hour of the day or night! I naturally have a freshness in my voice, an openness that many people find appealing. However, because I can act, I can wipe that tone away when needed. You will find me to be very versatile and take direction well. Just give me an idea of what you want, and I will be off and running!

 Training

Early on I spent a year at broadcasting school and recently a year doing classes with Such A Voice. I continue to take refresher classes in various aspects of voice over. I was a drama major in college before doing teacher training, have acted over the years off and on (including community theater and a stint at Seattle Repertory Theater) and continue to hone my skills with bi-weekly readers theater classes.

 Experience

I have done tv commercials over the years, in the US and Mexico, and did many radio spots while working as a radio announcer.

 Specials

I can write copy, which I used to do in my job as a dj, as well as many kinds of writing. I was an ESL teacher for many years, so had to teach students how to write in a variety of styles. I also wrote articles and edited advertising copy while working for a magazine. Having lived around the world, I have a working knowledge of Spanish, French, German and some Italian and Turkish.
