From the low side of the tenor on the voice spectrum, through the baritone, I offer my soul and mind to all work I perform.
My voice allows me to be silly, serious, intense, big and booming, fun and folksy, snarky, over-the-top, uplifting, easy-going, calming, plus about a hundred other things, with a range from young adult to an older middle-aged American. I grew up in the midwest (neutral) and Appalachia (hillbilly, and I'm PROUD of it), so my accent (or lack thereof) can fit many needs. I also play around with accents (southern U.S.) and have great fun doing so.
From customer service roles to public speaking, to voice-overs, I have a long history of speaking to win people over. I've been in every situation from dealing with angry people (a calming voice) to elated folks (celebratory), to being with grieving families as they say good-bye to loved ones, never to see them again (sincerity and empathy). My public speaking career has trained me to a keen sense of getting to know my audiences and how to reach them most effectively. Rolling everything up, I have my voice to offer with my voice-over skills.
Opleiding
I’ve been professionally trained (Such-A-Voice) in voice-acting and continue to seek professional training. It’s a life-long thing. Through the years, I have also gained training in the professional public speaking arena. My informal training is over thirty years of frontline customer service experience, meeting customers and clients at their level. My soft skills (people skills) are outstanding and have come through many years of ups and downs.
Ervaring
I’ve got commercial, public education, and organizational training voice-over experience, as well. As I’ve mentioned, I have public speaking experience. One has to know their audience.
Specifieke vaardigheden
My special skills include knowledge of and practice in training theory, for e-learning and corporate training areas. Writing research papers for specialist consumption is also another special skill I have that translates very well in getting to know the mind of people in different sectors of society. Public speaking is one of my most passionate and favored skills. Finally, working in successful collaborative efforts with producers and audio technicians is another skill that I have and continue to develop. Producers are people too, ya know. :-)
