Salathiel Reagan
I am an African-American, male voice over artist who spent his childhood moving all over the US with military parents. So, I have no real accent, but by spending time in places such as Oklahoma, Washington, and Delaware I am familiar with many regional US dialects. I have also spent years writing music, poetry, and stories for role-playing games; lending voice to monsters, villains, heroes, and heroines. I would also mention that I have been a student of the martial arts since I was a child and this has exposed me to even more concepts, cultural influences, languages, and pronunciations. I studied French for 7 years and Japanese for 3. I would not claim to be fluent at this time, but only because I am out of practice. However, as an example, through studying Japanese martial arts, anime, art, literature, cooking, and culture for most of my life I pronounce many Japanese words better than most Americans I would wager. Finally, I've spent 10 years in college. I have undergraduate degrees in art and psychology and I have a Master's Degree of Science in Mental Health Counseling. I've spent almost 20 years working with all age ranges and all types of mental health issues and have developed a unique ability to connect; healing people with my words and voice. I think this makes me and my voice unique!
Formation
I have spent years in live action role-playing and improv groups and have had some acting experience in college.
I completed further voice over training through Such a Voice, have completed one-on-one coaching with professional voice actor George Washington III, and have participated in master classes for advanced voiceover technique training with Justine Reiss as well.
Expérience
I would say my biggest success is that I am a black man in America that is self-employed. I have been a therapist in private practice for almost 8 years at this point and I have personally helped many people with little more than my voice. I believe its my ability to connect with almost anyone. I know this may sound like a stretch at first, but how many voice over artists have actually talked someone out of committing suicide? Having someone want to buy a new granola bar seems like a piece of cake compared to that! I don't mean to downplay the business. I am just getting started and I know I have a lot to learn. However, I have been told several times in my life that when I speak, I make a person feel as if they are the only person in the room. I never got that until writing this right now. Maybe its from being a therapist for so long, maybe its from being charismatic, educated, or just being funny, or just plain talented, but I feel I have this unique ability and I'm only just getting started. Now, all I need is an opportunity!
Particularités
I have a home studio so can work remotely and complete projects with a quick turn around.
I have had training in audio editing utilizing the Audacity program.
