James Ewart
I have a neutral and versatile British accent that ranges from RP to ‘Generic Midlands’, from posh to ‘common and casual’.
My natural voice is reassuring and eloquent with a slight midlands leaning, however for the majority of my voice-over work, that specific regional element is muted.
Years of working in the media industry has engrained in to me a strong attention to detail and a passionate work ethic; two factors that I believe are important as a voice-over artist in an often fast-paced industry.
Formation
My first foray in to voice work started early on in my career in the media industry when I landed the opportunity to host a radio show. During my time there I quickly embraced the importance of clear enunciation, and also discovered I had a knack for talking in a cliché ‘local radio DJ’ voice for comedic effect!
I studied media production at university, which has helped me gain a sturdy knowledge of audio recording and editing techniques and practices, alongside sills in pre-production, production, and post-production for video projects. Whilst I was a student I acted and provided my voice for a number of student film and audio projects.
Whilst working primarily in the video side of the industry, there have been a number of occasions where I have been asked to step in as a last-minute replacement for voice-over artists who have failed to meet deadlines on projects with urgent turnaround times.
Since initially making the steps to take my voice-over career to a more professional level, I have received advice and coaching from industry professionals, which has provided me with the skillset required to consistently produce high-quality voice work.
