Barbara Smale

I originally trained in London as an actress in the late 1970s and worked professionally for many years in the theatre in the UK and Australia.
My work ranged from Community Theatre, Theatre-In-Education, Mainstream Theatre, West End and Number One tours. I played a diverse range of character roles ranging from the lead role of Supergran in the national tour of Supergran the Musical, the Washerwoman and an assortment of woodland creatures in the Bill Kenwright musical West End version of Wind in the Willows to Vengeance, a terrifying French Revolutionist in the Crucible Theatre’s production of A Tale of Two Cities. I've also taken part in play readings, corporate videos , voiceovers for British rail and the Jorvik Centre, York and also featured in an operatic Ragu commercial
I had a break from acting when I had my daughter and retrained as a teacher. I've taught for many years in mainstream and special education but am now returning to what I love doing and am focusing on a voiceover career.
I have a warm, friendly neutral Scottish accent which inspires trust and confidence and my age range is 50s, 60s and 70s.
With my professional acting background and teaching experience I am suited to all genres of voiceover work and can deliver a read that is naturally appealing and energetic.

Glasgow University degree which included Drama.
Drama Studio London 1978/79 - Post Graduate Acting Diploma which included radio training/microphone technique
2024 Trained with Dian Perry , widely respected US actor and voiceover coach based in UK
Now having training sessions with award winning voiceover coach Emily Jardine
