"warm, intelligent, friendly, reassuring, dramatic,"
Jo Dow

My voice has an approachable quality that has served me well for everyman characters, from the AA repair man to the Captain of a Frigate to the Christmas campaigns for Iceland supermarkets. I began as a replacement for Martin Freeman which led to bringing warmth and intelligence to TV ads and corporate text, a feeling of reliability and if necessary authority to instructional descriptions, and also harder-sell for the bigger markets like the Sun and Daily Mirror. I enjoy leading the listener through a story or narrative, but I am also able to represent the easy bloke-in-the-pub having a chat required of many internet companies, or tech-savvy products.

i trained at the Guildhall school of music and drama under Patsy Rodenburgh OBE, where I won the Lord Mayors prize. I learnt my trade in repertory theatre in Leeds and Cardiff, before the West End with Shared experience and the RSC. John Howard Davies gave me my break in TV in a sitcom akongside Penelope Keith, which led to playing regulars in the Bill (155 eps) Cardiac Arrest(3 series,) Invasion Earth, and Family Affairs (4 years.) I have worked with writers such as Jimmy McGovern, Jed Mercurio, and Stephen Poliakoff, and actors like Ray Winstone, John Duttine, Andy Serkis, John Culshaw, and Celia Imrie.
i now teach screen acting and voice-overs for Rose Bruford and the Lyric theatre, Belfast.

I have been the brand voice for the Times and Sunday Times for many years, Waitrose, Dell Computers, Iceland, Heinz soup,, UBS Neo and Harvey Norman and British Eurosport; I was the voice of the 'Go ahead, Teach' campaign, the first Spotify campaign, Fiat 500 voice,, I have done safety videos for oil rigs, corporate pitches for hundreds of clients, installation voices for Guinness, vidoe game characters for Dreamfall (5 years0 . I have been B & Q's in-store voice, and many radio campaigns for Global including Cancer research, and many intros and ads for Classic FM, ITN and channel 4.

I am now experienced in editing in my home studio, and have done my first 2 full-length audiobooks, which are a joy.
