Prior to training as a voice over artist, I spent my professional time both teaching and working in the area of psychology and human development and family studies. Connecting to people – whether attempting to support students in the classroom or working with children as a therapist – was an important part of my professional life. I use that connecting experience for each script, considering the perspective of the audience. My vocal style, personality, and experience translate well to children and adolescent content. Regardless of the script, I have the ability to adapt to the voice and intent of the copy, and inspire emotion with the audience. Additionally, fields that fit well with my vocal style are educational and e-learning content, kids and family, healthy and beauty, and relaxation/mindfulness.
Formación
I have trained at Edge Studio, with vocal coach Jennifer Sims for over two years. My training is specific to narration and commercial copy. I have also taken classes with coaches Art Bruder and James Andrews, covering topics such as technique, phonetics, and the study of speech sounds.
Experiencia
My most recent experience is voice over educational content for children and adolescents (Be Outgrowing). I have recorded extensive copy to support e-learning life skills content. This opportunity allows me to blend my skills of communicating important and sometimes complex topics in a way that is both engaging and age-appropriate. Connecting to listeners and imagining their perspective and the goal of each e-learning course, plus the opportunity to add a little humor, is a voice-over sweet spot of mine.
