Barri Tsavaris is an international voiceover talent...but that wasn’t always the case. Before she would go on to become the voice of the 2018 Winter Olympics, the “Queen of ESL Textbooks,” the voice that welcomes hundreds of thousands of commuters on the Korea Train Express KTX each day, and a maven of everything from unique video game voices to warmly confident business narrations, Barri was gathering valuable experience in the corporate boardrooms of New York, the kindergartens of Korea, film classes at Boston University, and countless improv and theater venues around the world. Barri has taken everything she learned from those disparate worlds and combined it all with a strong and versatile voice to create a skill useful for everything from children’s cartoons to ads that resonate emotionally around the world.
Corporate Narration Expertise...
Barri has an instinctive understanding of the needs of her corporate clients because of the many years she spent in the corporate world herself. She learned the value of hard (sometimes monotonous!) work while temping for prestigious financial and law firms in New York City. She was taught the value of clear and efficient communication while working as a Legal Assistant for a Managing Partner at Goldman Sachs. Working in Human Resources at a major consulting firm educated her on the nuances of inspiring employees versus inspiring customers. And her three years as a Project Manager with the luxury jewelry brand John Hardy instilled in her a keen sense of how brands are marketed and how the personality of a brand can be the difference between a business that succeeds and one that thrives.
Passion for eLearning...
Known affectionately by her clients and colleagues in Korea as the “교재 여왕” (in English: the “Queen of Textbooks”) Barri is an expert in educational recording for ESL textbooks, teaching materials, test prep and examinations. Barri spent two years teaching English in Korea, in both a public school system and a more rigorous private institute. Her love for teaching merged with her passion for the corporate world in her one-on-one tutoring and small group sessions with business men and women at Korea’s most-elite companies. It is because Barri has been a language teacher that she understands the needs of educational content producers. As an educator, she once used the audio products she now works diligently every year to improve from behind the microphone.

Barri’s experience as a stage performer helps her bring characters to life every single day as a voice actor for animation and video games. Barri comes from the theatre and has been performing on stage since she was a child and studied acting at Boston University. She loves being able to sink into new characters and stretch her limits with each new persona. Her acting background gives her the emotional intelligence to draw on when she’s attacking any video game or cartoon character, whether it’s the famous Baby Shark or an evil vampiric demon in Lineage 2.

Outside the Booth...
Barri performs regularly on stage in Seoul with Seoul Players and Seoul Shakespeare Company. She is the Co-Producer & Audio Director of TIGHTS, a radio play about superheroes and their alter ego lives. She is a leader in Seoul’s voiceover community, and a mentor to several voice actors coming up the ranks in the Korean market. She speaks tourist-grade French and wannabe Korean.

Since studying acting at Boston University, followed by a summer program at the Gene Frankel Theatre in New York City, I've been an actor on stage, camera and behind the mic for 20 years.
IMPROV TRAINING:
I'm always in the moment as a performer, thanks to my extensive improv and sketch comedy training at Gotham City Improv and The Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC.
