Richard Burroughs

I feel that my greatest talent lies in being able to create convincing characters and using improvisation techniques. I've always had a lot of comical creativity and I've worked a lot on my timing. I practice accents and character voices all the time and always seem to be able to create something new! I've been praised for my comical creations and although former colleagues have told me to never give up my day job, they've also confessed that I have a talent that shouldn't go to waste.

 Opleiding

Formal training with a BA Hons in Performing Arts at Bath Spa University graduated 2008. This involved classical and historical theatre, acting for camera, stage combat, physical theatre, dance, stand up comedy and acting using the Stanislavski method.
One unit was dedicated to voiceover work in the form of radio plays where we tested a range of sound effects as well as worked with professional microphones and studio conditions. In my 3rd year I specialised in Performance For Live and Recorded Media blending live action with recorded scenes to reinvent theatrical pieces. My thesis project involved a film noir adapted from a graphic novel.

 Ervaring

Most recently worked on a secret project with a former employer for an app that was designed to gamify domestic violence situations to help former offenders make better choices. I was the voice talent for the abusive partner and had to play out two scenarios one for the abusive choices and one for the better choices.

 Specifieke vaardigheden

I can sing but it isn't my greatest strength. I am currently learning on how to edit sound with Audacity with the aims to be able to produce and edit my own work in the near future. I've been told I'm good at impressions of certain characters like Kermit and Miss Piggy, Yoda and others! I can also do a range of accents from all around the world if you wanted to add some flavour to a cartoon character or 2! However my native Bristolian isn't obvious and many people always ask where I'm from.
