Versatility is the key to what makes me unique – the ability to morph from one character to another, even when that character is a public service announcer or corporate spokesperson. From the conversational guy next door to the no-nonsense scientist or college professor; from the go-getting guy in his 20’s to the retiree in his 70's reflecting on a life well-lived; from the time-traveling robot to the rootin’-tootin' cowboy and his trusty sidekick, my strength is my ability to not only imagine myself as these characters but to put myself in their shoes, sandals, or cowboy boots, and become them! But it's not just about talking into a microphone - even more important is the ability to listen and ask questions in order to understand how to bring the client's original idea to life even better than they first imagined it.
Opleiding
I’ve been a full-time voice artist for the last five years now, but I’ve worked in media much, much longer, as a writer, producer, director, and narrator (although I’d hardly call it 'work'). In writing literally hundreds of scripts for dramatic, documentary, and children’s entertainment, I often read the copy out loud as part of the polishing process. As a director, I came to know best how I wanted my words re-enacted. So, the transition to performing them myself was a natural one, and it's why I connect so well with the scripts that come my way. Beyond formal training with established voice artists that include Bob Bergen, Kim Handysides, Bill DeWees, and Marc Scott, I feel that I am in constant training every single day as I try to stay on top of new developments and trends in the industry, both locally and around the world.
Ervaring
Over the years I've had the opportunity to work with some great companies here in Canada and in the U.S., as well as around the world, including American Express, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the CTV Network, the Campbell Soup Company, Fido Canada, the National Film Board, Subway, Ubisoft, Minority Media, Vanderlande Industries in The Netherlands, FinanceMalta, Coffey International Development in Australia, Fosnavaag Ocean Academy in Norway, Matinée Sound & Vision in the UK, Dog Day Media in Ireland, and Messages On Hold Pte, Ltd in Singapore, just to name a few. From the shop around the corner to the multi-national corporation, every project has been one I can chalk up to my own good experience, and from the sound of it, my clients have felt the same way.
Specifieke vaardigheden
I definitely can't compose a tune, or carry one for that matter, but my experience as a voice actor, as well as my many years in media, have given me a great deal of experience in audio and video production.
