Jonathon Marx

I'm an American actor who has been living in London for over 15 years, which has exposed me to a variety of accents, which I enjoy playing with. I have trained as a voice actor and as an actor for stage in the US, and I excel at providing a large range of emotional availability as well as authoritativeness.

 Opleiding

I trained as a theatre actor in the US and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting; this four-year degree included multiple courses dealing with Voice and Articulation. In further years I also enrolled in an Accents course, which exposed me a vast array of English-speaking dialects. I started learning German at the age of 14 and excelled at it; since coming to the UK I have been able keep up to date with lingo, and even held a job where my main role was to proofread and edit German text.

 Ervaring

I was approached by Big Finish studios (perhaps best known for making Doctor Who audio dramas), who asked me in re-record dialogue for a Dark Shadows audio drama where the original recording was lost due to a technical issue. They liked my work so much that when they produced the next "series" of the show, they wrote a character for me, and I have been featured in a number of their audio dramas in the Dark Shadows line. I worked with original cast members of the 1966-71 American TV show including David Selby and Kathryn Leigh-Scott, as well as guest stars borrowed from their Doctor Who line, like Colin Baker.

On the non-fiction side, I have featured on a BBC Radio 4 documentary called "The Debt Business", and I have recorded numerous "how-to" videos for various startups like RedCloud and Scope Better, which can be found on YouTube.

 Specifieke vaardigheden

I am also a podcaster, so I am adept with post-production and editing. My preferred software is Adobe Audition.

My other interesting skill is my German language ability. I have recorded (non-professionally) portions of German text including audiobooks.
