one-half of The Voiceover Couple, an award-winning voiceover team based in Delaware, a background in entertainment and radio has proven key to success. Dominick Draper took his background in radio from Delaware State University into a side hustle that he grew into a successful business alongside his educator wife, Nicole.
“Dom” Draper worked a full-time telecommunications job until that work slowed during the pandemic and forced him to grow their then-3-year-old freelance venture into something more full-fledged.
Since launching The Voiceover Couple in 2017, business has been booming, and their work has earned them multiple international awards for case studies along with commercial work for Yahoo Sports, the NBA, NFL, NHL, Nike, Google and more. Their voice overs include commercial, political, animation and explainer content, among others. He handles day-to-day operations and management of the business as well as auditions, marketing and finances. In 2022 The Voiceover Couple was named to the Delaware Business Times 40 under 40.
Over the years, the Drapers have given back to the community through a Beyond These Bars Program young artist workshop, by donating bookbags for a back-to-school drive and offering a volunteer voiceover workshop for the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware. He said they are also working on plans for a nonprofit that combines literacy and an introduction to voiceover work to kids from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Newark High School and DSU graduate also has a background in the music and entertainment industry, writing stories with celebrity interviews for AllHipHop.com for a decade and also covering the local music scene for The News Journal/Delaware Online. He’s also curated concerts and events with Live Nation and The Queen theater.
