Back in 2014, when I was teaching Russian at the University of South Carolina, I started narrating videos for my students – to help with those late night, pre-midterm jitters. Before long people were commenting not just on Russian grammar, but on my delivery: clear, but also reassuring and encouraging. And when someone who'd never seen me before recognized my voice at a national conference ("Hey, are you the guy from that YouTube channel...?"), it was clearly time to take narration seriously.
Since then I've been fortunate to hone my craft at VoicetraxSF with coaches like Samantha Paris, Thom Pinto, Jeannie Elias, Tina Morasco, Peter Dunne, Vicki Baum, Chuck Kourouklis, Brian Sommer, and many more. I now work from a home studio (Shure KSM32, Scarlett interface, Reaper DAW) in Kinsale, Ireland. That YouTube channel is still going strong with over 35,000 subscribers, and I'm eager to bring the same clarity and thoughtful, positive energy to your e-learning, narration, and other projects.
Opleiding
I have trained for over two years at Voicetrax SF with teachers like Samantha Paris, Thom Pinto, Jeannie Elias, Tina Morasco, Peter Dunne, Vicki Baum, Chuck Kourouklis, Brian Sommer, and many more. While my primary focus is narration and e-learning, classes have covered all major VO genres, along with script analysis, home recording and editing. I have also trained in medical narration with Debbie Irwin.
Ervaring
I recently completed an audio tour for "Nothing Still About Still Lifes: Three Centuries of Floral Compositions," a permanent exhibition at the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing, China. Other projects have included a safety announcement for Hainan Airlines; a 14-hour audiobook based on a work first published in 1859, which included short passages in German, Italian, Latin, and French; dubbing lines in English for a documentary on restoring Notre Dame for Studio Pluriel; and reading the part of Walter Lippmann in a recent episode of the podcast "The Last Best Hope."
In addition to work for clients, I continue to expand the set of over 200 e-learning videos on Russian grammar for a project begun when I was teaching full-time.
