Chris Foster

I have been using my voice professionally for over thirty years, predominantly as a singer. I have appeared in TV and radio adverts, film soundtracks and classical concerts covering a wide range of genres and employing varied and extended vocal techniques from speech to simple beatbox effects and everything in between. I live in London but have travelled extensively for work and leisure and can converse in French and Italian. I have comprehension of other languages but can sing effectively in all of them.

I first dipped my toe into VO about thirty years ago, appearing on two sat-nav systems. I then won a singing competition and that took over my life. For the last two years I have revisited VO and been training seriously ever since and auditioning on my home set-up on some P2P sites for the last year, gaining a handful of jobs. I love the variety of the work and am keen to expand further into this world.

 Opleiding

I continue to have singing lessons many years after many pros stop and I see my singing life as complementary to VO work, in that control of the breath and tonal production of the voice is paramount. Specifically for VO, I have been training with Guy Michaels for over two years on Voiceover Kickstart and have been auditioning on P2P sites. I completed the League of List Builders course with Jonathan Tilley in 2021 and am having some additional coaching with Richcraft.

 Ervaring

Animation project: I helped with voicing and reading of lines to give the animator an idea of the pacing and emphasis of the text being used.
Company video: I voiced an internal company video for London Array (an example of the many extracts is on my website)
Internet advert: An impersonation of Stephen Fry for The Ivy Brasserie in London for Caprice Holdings.
Audio guide: Recorded for Hi-story, Malmö about a Swedish national horse sector facility.
Internet advert: Impersonating a French customs official (in English) for The Dog's Trust.
Video game: To be released in 2023, impersonating a 1950s grand prix commentator.

To come: a project with RAF Hendon for an exhibition they have in 2023.

 Specifieke vaardigheden

In addition to VO, I am the choir manager of Gregorian (based in Hamburg). I write the vocal arrangements, conduct the recording sessions and book the singers for my boss, Frank Peterson. I run my own professional ad-hoc choir, Apollo Voices, which sings on film and TV soundtracks, video games and commercial concerts and I remain an active, professional bass-baritone.
