Derek Jones

I have a warm and full-bodied voice that evokes a friendly guy-next-door feel or the comfort and security of a trained professional. I am a cheerful and upbeat person, so my natural reading style compliments scripts with high energy and humor. Due to my training in acting and vocal performance, however, my voice is also quite versatile; I can comfortably embody older and younger voices in a broad range of circumstances, and I am always happy to work with clients to fine-tune my reads for their specific needs.

 Formazione

First and foremost, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in 2021 from Seattle University, where I specialized in both performance and sound design. I think many folks undervalue a solid acting foundation for voiceover work, and my extensive stage work helps set me apart from other voiceover artists. In terms of VO training in particular, I have received wholistic education in voiceover from a number of Seattle-area pros, primarily Maggie McLauren and Kira Dorrian, over the course of about three years during my time in university.

 Esperienza

I am just beginning my journey in the world of professional voiceover, but I have so far provided voiceover for Seattle University and a number of local businesses as well as promotional messaging for a CA Target location.

 Peculiarità

Aside from voiceover, I have a deep passion for music! I am a classically trained vocalist with four years of vocal performance at Seattle University, most notably being featured as a soloist for harpsichordist Byron Schenkman. I also have 7 years experience in trumpet from concert , jazz and marching bands. I am also well versed in audio engineering and post-production, and I have an innate ability to quickly learn dialects as well as intermediate improv training.
