What story do you need to tell?
I learned about the powers of story, imagination, and sound when I was six or seven. My parents bought a collection of old-time radio broadcasts on vinyl and cassette. We would sit together on the floor in front of the stereo and be transported to another time and place.
It wasn’t long before I was writing my own radio shows and recording them on a portable cassette recorder. That early love of storytelling has never stopped growing. It’s why I’m an actor today.
Thanks to the Dungeons & Dragons role playing game, I have over 40 years of experience performing improv and creating characters with all sorts of different voices. However, when I’m not talking like a goblin or a troll, my natural vocal tone is warm, friendly, and pleasant.
For the past 15 years, I taught physicians, nurses, and non-clinical staff across the U.S. how to use the Epic electronic health record. I have the natural ability to change my approach and delivery to suit my audience. From dealing with angry doctors to anxious support staff that have never had to use a computer, I can connect with them and put them at ease. I can guide the most resistant person to come around and get excited about the new things I want to show them.
I can take this unique mix of skills and apply it to voicing almost anything from technical narration, to a commercial that feels more like a conversation between friends, to a wacky little creature in a video game or cartoon.
I understand the importance of collaborating and meeting deadlines. I can deliver high quality audio that matches your needs, or we can meet through Zoom, Skype, or Source-Connect, to record in real time.
I look forward to helping you tell your story.
Formazione
I’ve studied acting on and off for over 25 years. I've taken 20+ in-person and online classes at Voice One, the leading voice over training school in San Francisco. I’ve also attended a similar number of online classes presented by VoiceTrax SF and Closing Credits. In the summer of 2023, I participated in a weekend workshop led by Richard Horvitz. I currently work 1:1 with a few different acting coaches that specialize in different genres.
Esperienza
I have performed on stage, and in local television commercials. I have voiced eLearnings and acted in on-camera training videos for the hospital I worked at.
Peculiarità
I’m adept at both technical and hands-on mechanical things. I build my own computers and I’ve rebuilt the engine of a 1966 VW beetle.
At one point in my life I was a tour guide in the Grand Canyon.
I can play the banjo (poorly).
