"Authoritative, classic storyteller bringing life to words"

I am an actor. I trained as such. Even in the years I taught in order to feed my young and growing family, I remained an actor at heart, combining my day job with the role of professional voice over artist to scores of radio stations and corporate clients. It was my growing reputation in this role that led to my recruitment by the BBC. Sadly, while my voice, as announcer, newsreader, narrator and occasional character (Yes, I even read the Shipping Forecast) became increasingly familiar across national television and radio, both in and between programmes, the BBC demanded my full attention, and further commercial work had to be politely declined.

After 22 years I finally parted company with them. This allowed me to rejoin the market and pursue and enjoy a much wider range of interesting projects. Since early 2013 I have been privileged to work for clients on five continents, voicing television, radio and on-line ads and delivering in house training videos and e-learning courses for some of the biggest companies in the world. I have had the joy of voicing characters for both Gaming and Apps, and the satisfaction of having narrated thirty Audiobooks to date on behalf of some very creative clients across a range of genres.

That is what actors do.

I trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now The Scottish Conservatoire), graduating in 1977 with a BA, DID. From 1978, I taught Speech and Drama and Theatre Studies, along the way finding myself in demand as a professional voice over artist.

In 1991 I was headhunted by the BBC and was trained to the highest level by them in the broadcast techniques required of national television and radio. Subsequently, I trained others for the BBC, while myself continuing to broadcast daily.

Since 2014 I have have added further training in ADR for Cinema and Television at Warner Brothers, London, in Character Development for Gaming and Apps at High Score, London, and in Performance Capture at AudioMotion, Oxford.
