While many voice actors start their bios by pontificating on how they knew they wanted to be an actor at an early age or spent years honing their voice over the radio waves, my journey has been a little less traditional. I found my voice...in the woods.
During my 20+ years of working with various age ranges in numerous outdoor pursuits I learned the importance of creating the voice people want, or sometimes need, to hear. As a camp counselor, I became a singer and storyteller. I learned how to be the voice of reason, strength, compassion, silliness and sarcasm. As a ropes course director my voice conveyed reassurance, encouragement and trustworthiness. And as a trip leader and raft guide I change my persona to fit the needs of the group. In one day, my voice may change from the knowledgeable and stern to playful and downright ridiculous. Through those years I played the mom, the teacher, the confidant, the boss and the mischief maker. But in the end my goal has always remained the same, to make sure whoever I'm working with has not only a professional experience but also a good time!
