"Warm, approachable and friendly to wry and even sarcastic."

My clients have told me I have an ability to bring their scripts to life; that I bring something to every script. I am known as direct-able, professional, and fun to work with. I bring a confident energy to every job, with touches of wit and friendly approachability. (Here is where more than 10 years experience in stand-up comedy comes in to play.) I have a cultivated, clear voice and a wide range of delivery, with a particular gift for dialogue spots. I have my BA in English Literature and spent 18 years teaching high school. That love for the written word gives me a unique understanding of how to get the meaning of those words off the page and into the recording. Before stand-up comedy and teaching high school, I worked a few years in a studio as an engineer, director, and producer of radio commercials and soundtracks for TV spots and industrial videos. So, when I receive a script, I understand it from both sides of the microphone.

 Ausbildung

I have been speaking into microphones since I was in junior high nearly half a century ago. In addition to that, I studied Telecommunications at Indiana University, Bloomington. Those studies included a few classes in oral interpretation and reader's theater. From there, I have been mostly self-taught, with the help of some coaching along the way.

 Erfahrung

I have been a professional voice talent for more than 35 years now. It all began way back in my 7th grade year when I was asked to participate in a Thanksgiving pageant delivered over the public address system at my school. I continued to participate in school announcements all through high school, when I began to work as a news reader on the local radio station. I initially went to university to major in telecommunications, with an emphasis on performance, but somehow ended up with the aforementioned BA in English Literature. Following university, I worked as a broadcaster for about three years until I moved to the "big city" in 1985 to work as a studio engineer and in-house voice talent. I have been working as a voice actor ever since.
I have done national radio spots for Columbo Refrigerated Yogurt and General Mills's "Hamburger Helper Three Cheese Lasagna." I was the voice of Kroger Supermarkets in the midwestern US for several years, and my home city was the only city where a major rival grocery store opened and Kroger did not lose any market share. I am the voice of an instructional piece for Hal Leonard Publishing called "Sight Singing Made Simple," which teaches voice students the art of solfege (I myself am not a singer.) I have appeared on camera in episodes of Unsolved Mysteries and Rescue 911, and had a featured role in the film "Fresh Horses," released in 1988. I was a co-host for the podcast "Boomers with Beverages," which ran for more than 60 episodes and can be heard on two other podcasts, "The Big Sales Tales of Chase Harlowe" and "Forbidden Diary."

 Besonderheiten

I can do post production, having worked for a few years in a recording studio and as a live sound reinforcement technician on and off since the mid-1980s. I primarily use Adobe Audition, but I have used Apple's Logic Pro X, and can compose using Apple Loops. I was also one of the four hosts of the podcast, "Boomers with Beverages." I was also the editor for "Boomers with Beverages," which ran for 60 episodes. Additionally, I was responsible for our YouTube channel (BWBTV@645), and assembled more than 60 videos for that channel. I did the editing and mixing for another podcast called "The Big Sales Tales of Chase Harlowe," for which I also did the announcing and played multiple characters.
